Peer Review Process
Overview
The International Journal of South Asian and Global South Studies has a well-organized and balanced peer review model to maintain the quality and validity of all the research published. Every submission is properly analyzed by subject experts and then a final decision is reached.
Initial Screening
Once submitted, every manuscript is first reviewed by the editorial team to verify:
- The relevance to the scope of the journal.
- Simple quality and design.
- Adherence to the rules of submissions.
Manuscripts failing to fulfill these criteria could be sent to the author who may revise or reject it at this point.
Double-Blind Review
The journal is peer reviewed on a double blind basis, with:
- The reviewers are not aware of the authors.
- The identity of the reviewers is unknown to authors.
- This will help in creating fairness and decrease bias during the evaluation.
Review Criteria
Manuscripts are evaluated on the basis of:
- Originality of the research
- Clarity and organization
- Quality of analysis and argument.
- Relevance to study area.
- Correct referencing and use of sources.
Positive criticism is given to assist the authors to better their work.
Review Outcome
The editorial team will decide based on the comments of the reviewers as to one of the following:
- Accept the manuscript
- Accept with minor revisions
- Request major revisions
- Reject the manuscript
Authors will receive detailed feedback along with the decision.
Process of Revision
If changes are needed:
- Authors should carefully respond to all comments from reviewers.
- You must send in a revised manuscript by the deadline.
- Changes should be clearly marked when possible
- If necessary, the revised version can be sent for more review.
Final Decision
After looking at the revised manuscript and the comments from the reviewers, the editorial team makes the final decision. Papers that are accepted move on to the publication stage.
Review Timeline
The journal wants to finish the review process in 6 to 8 weeks, but this depends on how hard the manuscript is and how available the reviewers are.
Privacy
We keep all manuscripts and review comments secret. We only share information for the purpose of academic evaluation.
Last Note
The peer review process is meant to keep academic standards high and help authors make their work better so it can be published.
